Ipoh, Malaysia Trip (Day 5)

2nd May 2017, Tuesday

Arghhh...last day of trip...time flies fast.....we got up early and got ready to have breakfast at Ming Court Hong Kong Tim Sum. 3 of us went down first to chope a table while waiting for Qy and Deb to come down. It was also crowded, luckily we got a table. The staffs were carrying different dim sums and asking each table whether the people want to get it. As we were sitting there, we had to get some food in case we got chased out....hahaaa....The food was actually nicer than the one we had yesterday....Maybe next time i will go back for this if i goes to Ipoh again...heheehe....After Qy and Deb arrived, we ordered more dim sums...Their baos were huge too...After the nice breakfast, we walked to Kedai Biskut Sin Eng Heong to get their famous kaya puffs. It costed $1 for each and each of us bought at least a box to bring back...It was nicee...managed to eat one before giving out the rest away...

After that, we headed back to the hotel to rest and packed our luggage. Then we checked out the hotel and headed down to Ipoh parade shopping mall for some shopping to pass time. There was nothing much to do too, so we stayed at a coconut ice cream cafe (Sangkaya) to have some ice cream. I got a chocolate ice cream as i don't like coconuts....hohoho....But my friends were loving the coconut ice cream there...After the ice cream, we went to collect our pre-ordered xiang piahs from a residential house. We actually missed to take one pack back and we only realising it when we reached the airport.

Qy, Col and I headed down to the airport while Deb and Dap went off to the train station to catch their train to KL. We reached the airport earlier and the airport was small with nothing to do but to sat there and wait for boarding. Even when we reached the boarding gate, we were still waiting for the plane to arrive and it was delayed too. I almost fell asleep while waiting...Finally the plane arrived and everyone tried to board the plane in hurry...there were passengers trying to board for two different planes. Some passengers even got mixed up in the queues.

Anyway, we landed in Singapore safe and sound after all the shaking during the flight. Then we parted and I ate dinner with hn when she came to pick up her goodies (corns and xiang piahs) at the airport...hahaha....This marked the end of my yum yum trip.......

Ipoh, Malaysia Trip (Day 4)

1st May 2017, Monday

Woke up around 7 plus....there were loud singing throughout the night....I went shower first before the other two woke up...keke...Dap was complaining she can't sleep cos Col was turning and tossing on the bed... :P....So we decided to do a switch on who to sleep on the same bed tonight. We headed out to have our breakfast at Restoran Foh San (富山茶楼). It was sooo crowded and we had to find table on our own. We managed to get a table on the 2nd level and went to order the dim sums we wanted to try. Finally, we settled down to eat the food....hungry hungry....It was nice too!!

After the nice and heavy dim sum, we headed out to walk around Ipoh and look around on the heritage buildings. First stop, we walked to the Ipoh Railway Station. The building was huge and the weather was super hot too...Then we walked to the war memorial statue, which was outside the railway station. We passed by the High Courts, City Hall and Clock Tower. After that, we walked to Old Town White Coffee cafe where we had some cold drinks to cool ourselves down. After we rested ourselves, we continued the walk again. We headed to see the clock tower and spent some time taking photos there. After that, we headed to The Concubine Lanes and walked there. The streets were busking with people and a lot of shops. We got a small pineapple to eat too...it's very sweet....yum yum...We also got a ice ball with lots of colours to share.

After that, we took cab to buy soya beancurd and milk (Funny Mountain Soya Bean) and the salted chicken from yesterday. As there was queue in the soya beancurd shop, we split out to buy salted chicken and met back at the hotel. We managed to buy the cooked salted chicken today and Deb, mi and Dap walked back to the hotel. We also bought some cut fruits back too. We headed to one of the hotel rooms to eat the food. The chicken was tasty and soft....it was no wonder people were willing to queue for it. The soya beancurd was smooth too but we found it too sweet.

After that, Qy, Deb, Dap and i went to Kek Look Tong cave while Col stayed in the hotel to rest. The cave was big and there were buddha statues placed inside for worshippers to pray. We spent some time enjoying the view there...but i was feeling sticky as it did rained for a while and the weather was humid too. Then we wanted to go to another temple but ended up in another temple named Miaw Yuan Chan Lin. It was a small temple where there was nothing much. So we went back to the hotel to rest before dinner time. We just watched tv until 6 pm and headed out for dinner.

We took cab to Restoran Onn Kee for bean sprouts chicken. Yum Yum chicken too, slightly salty though. After dinner, we went walking around the streets and bought some goodies. I bought 2 packets of ipoh coffee. After that, we rested at Tan Ngan Lo Herbal Tea. It was raining too. After the rest, we walked to a street where there were many stalls selling food to get some desserts. The road was dark dark...The stall we wanted to try was not opened so we got a ice dessert and pancakes.

We walked around and went to buy the famous dried hor fun at Tuck Kee Ipoh Sah Hor Fun (德记怡保沙河粉). We had to wait for some time for it too and we finally can go back to the hotel. When we reached the hotel, we enjoyed the hor fun...it was yummy!! After that, we went to the room and got ready for bed. Whole day of eating today.... really full from all the food...hahaaa....

Ipoh, Malaysia Trip (Day 3)

30th April 2017, Sunday

Today, we were moving to Ipoh and we got ready for breakfast. We went down to the hotel restaurant for breakfast but there was a long queue. So we went down to kea farm to find breakfast and we ended up in an indian restaurant for roti pratas. It was quite crowded and the roti pratas were nice...After breakfast, we walked down the street and bought home-made flavoured ice creams. There were corn, strawberry, passion fruit and other flavours. It was tasty and flavourful....

After that, we walked back to the hotel and rested for a while. Then we took our luggage and went down while waiting for the driver. In the end, we took the hotel minivan to the lobby after waiting till noon. We waited at the lobby and ordered some food from cafe. The driver was being late during to massive jam. We ordered a chicken chop and wedges while waiting too. Dap suddenly realised her work phone was missing, so we searched high and low in the lobby, hotel apartment. Deb and Col saw the hotel staffs with a phone at the counter. They checked with them to see if it was Dap's. Luckily Col managed to confirm that by calling to the phone. While the hunting was going on, i covered the food with tissue papers to keep the flies away. After the hunting was over, we ate the food and even got the sweet and juicy corns too..The driver informed that he would be arrived in around 3 minutes. So we got ready and waited at the hotel's entrance.

Keeping the flies away...hahaa

We boarded the van and we were off to Ipoh, it was around 2-hr ride away from Cameron Highlands. It was a quiet ride and we slept on the van during the ride too. We finally reached the hotel at around 4 plus and then we checked in the hotel. We got two separate rooms and we went up to put our luggage. Col, Dap and me settled in one room and Qy and Deb in another room. After that, we were deciding where to go for our dinner and had decided on salted chicken (Ayam Garam Aun Kheng Lim 宴琼林盐焗鸡). So we headed out and walked to the salted chicken place. However, the cooked ones were sold out, left the uncooked ones. Even though the uncooked ones were left, the queue was still very long. So we left and headed to another chinese restaurant (Restoran Pusing Public).

It was still early, we reserved for a table to come back later for dinner. Then we went to the building opposite the streets to shop around. When we came out, it was raining heavily with thunders. So we had to get raincoats to brave through the heavy rain to get back to the restaurant. Once we reached the restaurant, we were taken up to the 2nd floor and there was a wedding dinner on the other side of the hall. We ordered 4 dishes and it took quite a while before the dishes were served. I was sooo hungry....Finally, the food arrived and we got to eat but the dishes were salty....don't like it....After the dinner, we booked uber cars to drive us to a nearby shopping mall (Ipoh Parade Shopping Mall). We left once the cars arrived, there was another wedding dinner held at the downstairs hall too. When we reached the mall, we went up to the cinema level and bought tickets to "Shockwave" movie.

We walked around the mall till it was time for the movie. It was so funny throughout the movie, we could hear voices coming from the side where Qy and Deb were seated. The movie was so intense, but we could hear funny and "scary" voices too. After the movie ended, we were so curious and thought the sound was from Qy and Deb. And they were trying to explain to us it wasn't them. Then they told us the voices were actually coming from the couple seated behind of them....hahaa....They even said there was "kaboom" sound effect at the last part of the movie...so funny....

After the movie, we walked to the supermarket to get plain water and called for uber. I bought nuggets back to the hotel too. We got back the same driver as earlier and he charged us double when he saw there were 5 of us. Well, it was back to the hotel to rest....and i enjoyed my tasty nuggets...
^-^..
